CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly track and field awards on Tuesday, naming Kara Moran of the University at Buffalo track and field team the MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The announcement marks Moran's first time earning the honor.
Moran won the award following a strong weekend at the Penn State National Open. The junior earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.85 meters, ranking fourth in the conference. Moran doubled back to earn another season-best mark of 12.05 meters in the triple jump, ranking 10th in the conference.
Moran was also just shy of her indoor personal record in the long jump (5.87m) that ranks fifth in UB history and in the triple jump (12.07m) that ranks ninth in UB indoor history. A full recap of events and results from the Penn State National Open can be accessed here.
The announcement marks the second time this season a UB track and field athlete earned the honor. Stella Kapp was named the MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week in December.
The Bulls will next compete at Kent State's Doug Raymond Invitational on Friday, February 6th, through Saturday, February 7th. A complete schedule for UB Track & Field can be found here.
