
Track & Field Continues Outdoor Season at Bucknell and Cornell This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is continuing its outdoor season this weekend with two meets in the Northeast. The Bulls will compete at both the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic and the Cornell Big Red Invite on Saturday, with action continuing into Sunday at Cornell too.
The program enters the weekend fresh off a strong showing at Geneseo's Early Season Invite. The Bulls entered four new performances into the program's all-time ranks, including Michael Parks breaking the 110-meter hurdles school record with a time of 13.95 seconds. Ryan Cardichon, Stella Kapp and Linnea Neureuther also joined the program's all-time outdoor rankings in their respective events. All four athletes will compete again this weekend at Cornell.
CORNELL BIG RED INVITE
Cornell's Big Red Invite will feature several Buffalo student-athletes from the throws, jumps and sprints programs through the two-day meet.
Krista Perry and Isa van Puffelen open the action on Saturday at 1 p.m., competing in the women's heptathlon. The heptathlon opens with four events on day one: 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter. The competition will conclude on Sunday with the long jump, javelin throw and the 800-meter. van Puffelen ranks sixth in program history in the event, with a personal best score of 5,020 set in 2025.
Buffalo's throwers will open the action on Sunday at 9 a.m., competing in the men's and women's shot put, javelin throw, discus throw and hammer throw. Kapp won the women's javelin throw at Geneseo with a mark of 37.43 meters, also ranking 10th in UB outdoor history.
The jumps program begins competition at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at Cornell. Brian Murphy and Brady Hughes are scheduled to open the action in the men's pole vault. Murphy ranks fifth in program history with a mark of 4.80 meters. Neureuther, Kara Moran and Amari Hall will compete in the women's triple jump at 2:30 p.m. Neureuther rose the program rankings to fourth with a distance of 12.56 meters at Geneseo. Micah Blair, Nicalis Williams and Mitch Diamond are scheduled to participate in the men's triple jump, following the conclusion of the men's long jump that begins at 2:30 p.m. Blair (8th, 14.68m) and Williams (10th, 14.59m) joined the program rankings at the Raleigh Relays.
Gemma Galligani, Neureuther and Olga Skolasinska open the track events for the Bulls on Sunday, participating in the women's 100-meter hurdles at 11:30 a.m. Galligani ranks ninth in program history with a time of 13.95, set last year at Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships. Parks then continues the hurdling events with the men's 110-meter hurdles at 11:50 a.m., looking to improve upon his school record.
The Bulls' sprinters will compete in the men's and women's 100-meter events that begin at noon. On the women's side, Sophia Sampson ranks fifth in program history (11.95). On the men's side, freshman Matthew Schaffert was less than a tenth of a second shy of reaching the UB outdoor record book (10.61) with a time of 10.70 seconds at the Raleigh Relays.
The Buffalo men and women are scheduled to participate in the 4x100-meter relays at 12:50 p.m. The Buffalo men were just over a second shy of the program's all-time record (39.88) with a time of 40.99 at the Richmond Invite. Parks, Keoni Chong, Diamond and Schaffert will compete for the Bulls on Sunday. The Buffalo women just over a second shy of the program record too (45.29), posting a time of 46.89 at Richmond. Uma Bhattacharjee, Amber McDonald, Sampson and Hailey Martinez are slated to compete for the Bulls.
The Buffalo sprinters will also compete in the 400-meter, 400-meter hurdles and the 200-meter events, with the final event beginning at 4:05 p.m.

BUCKNELL BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC
Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic will feature many of Buffalo's distance and middle-distance runners.
The Bulls begin action on Saturday with Meghana Reddy and Juliette Salazar competing in the women's 800-meter at 12:05 p.m. Salazar ranks ninth in program outdoor history in the event with a time of 2:10.94. Aidan Norris, Michael Huebner, Fernando Sanchez, Xavier Gordon, Nicholas Morgan and Kevin Sherry will compete on the men's side, scheduled to start at 12:55 p.m. Norris ranks fourth in program outdoor history in the 800-meter (1:49.50).
Fiona Klingbeil is set to compete in the women's 5,000-meter at 3:20 p.m., making her outdoor event debut with the program. Connor Domoy and Chris Turner will compete in the men's 10,000-meter at 5:20 p.m., making their season debut in the event.
Jacqueline Appenheimer, Sophie Brettholtz and Reese Wilber are scheduled to participate in the women's 1,500-meter invite at 7:15 p.m. On the men's side, Noah Brightman, Vincent Guaresimo, Collin Stafford and Gabe Watson are set to compete. Brightman's season-best time of 1:51.84 set at Richmond missed the program's all-time rankings by two-tenths of a second (1:51.64).
Buffalo runners will compete in both the men's and women's 5,000-meter invitational, expected to begin at 7:45 p.m.
Matt Gensel closes out the meet for the Bulls with the men's 10,000-meter scheduled for 10:10 p.m. Gensel ranks ninth in program history in the event with a time of 30:10.96, set in 2024.
