
Track & Field to Compete at MAC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is set to compete at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, this Friday, February 27th, and Saturday, February 28th, on the campus of Central Michigan University.
The Bulls enjoyed a historic indoor season, posting 40 performances that joined the program's all-time rankings. Noah Brightman and Vassi Klock headlined the regular season by setting school records in the mile. Brightman's time of 4:03.62 surpassed the previous men's mile school record by over a second (4:04.93), with Klock posting a time of 4:46.99 to crush the women's record by nearly three seconds (4:39.28).
The Bulls are also competitive with talent around the conference. The program heads to indoor championships with 70 performances from athletes that rank inside the top 20 of their events.
FRIDAY
The Bulls begin action on Friday at 10 a.m. Loretta White opens indoor championships in the women's weight throw. The junior set a new personal best in the event last weekend at Cornell, posting a mark of 17.04 meters.
Micah Blair, Ryan Cardichon and Mitch Diamond will open the two-day competition for the jumps program, participating in the men's long jump scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Blair ranks fourth in the conference with a mark of 7.38 meters.
Klock and Bronagh Cassidy will compete in the preliminary round of the women's mile at 1:45 p.m. Klock ranks seventh in the MAC. Day two will feature the finals round of the women's mile and numerous sprinting and middle-distance events.
Gemma Galligani is expected to compete in the 60-meter hurdles preliminary round scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Galligani's personal best time of 8.55 seconds ranks sixth in the conference this season.
The Bulls have four runners that rank inside the top 15 of the conference in the men's 400-meter. Preliminary rounds of the event are scheduled for 3 p.m. Keoni Chong ranks seventh in the MAC (48.46), while Malachi Taylor and Kala'i Makanani are tied for 11th with a time of 48.88. All three are freshmen. Rylee VanAlstine ranks 14th as well, with a season-best time of 49.12.
Aidan Norris was strong for the Bulls in his indoor sophomore season, setting three personal best performances that rank top five in UB indoor history. Norris is set to compete in the men's 800-meter on the opening day, an event in which he ranks third in the MAC in (1:50.97). Freshman Michael Huebner is set to join Norris, ranking 12th this season (1:52.91), but only trailing Norris by less than two seconds.
Cameron Bogdan, Jacob Brink and Matt Gensel are scheduled to compete in the men's 5,000-meter at 5:20 p.m. Bogdan and Brink joined the program record book in the event this season, with Bogdan ranking second in the conference (14:14.32) and Brink sitting at fifth (14:27.12).
SATURDAY
The action continues Saturday at 10 a.m. with Bebe Balk in the women's shot put. The junior set an indoor personal best of 12.96 meters in the event at Cornell last weekend.
Stella Kapp, Akuot Kuany and Adriana Ellsworth join the action at 11 a.m. in the women's high jump. Kapp ranks fourth in the conference with a mark of 1.75 meters. Kuany sits at ninth with a season-best jump of 1.70 meters. Ellsworth ranks 15th with a mark of 1.65 meters.
The men's triple jump is also scheduled for 11 a.m. where Nicalis Williams, Cardichon and Blair will compete for the Bulls. Williams made his mark on program history instantly, setting a personal record of 14.71 meters to rank fourth in the MAC in the program's season-opening meet. Blair ranks fifth on the season with a mark of 14.56 meters. The Bulls are strong on the women's side of the triple jump too, with Linnea Neureuther ranking fifth in the conference with a mark of 12.50 meters. Kara Moran also ranks 13th in the MAC with a season-best of 12.09 meters. The women's triple jump is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Brightman and Vincent Guaresimo are set to compete in the men's mile at 12:40 p.m. Brightman ranks third in the conference with his school record performance (4:03.62) and Guaresimo ranks 10th with a personal best time of 4:11.55.
The Bulls will close out the indoor conference championships with 4x400-meter relays. The Buffalo women set a season-best time of 3:49.75, the program's fastest in the event since 2015.
