Women’s Basketball Hosts Ohio on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball welcomes the Ohio Bobcats to Alumni Arena on Saturday at 2pm. It is the team's Pink Game, sponsored by Kaleida Health.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Howard Simon (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on 1400 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 53rd overall meeting between Buffalo and Ohio with the Bulls owning a 31-21 series advantage. The Bulls defeated the Bobcats in both meetings last season.
Buffalo fell to Northern Illinois 64-58 on Wednesday night at Alumni Arena. Redshirt freshman guard Aniya Rowe led the Bulls in scoring for the fifth time this season with 16 points, including four-of-six shooting from beyond the arc. Fellow freshman Deana Thompson tied a career-high with 14 points, Amber Howard scored a career-high eight points while notching a career-best 11 rebounds and Ella Corry also added eight points.
Junior guard Paula Lopez leads the Bulls in scoring at 10.8 points per game. She has scored in double figures eight times and is third in the MAC in field goal attempts (173) while ranking 11th in field goals made (59). Freshman Meg Lucas leads the league and ranks 20th nationally in rebounding (10.3 rpg). As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC and ranks in the top 25 nationally in offensive rebounds per game (15.9) while ranking third in the league in three-point field goal defense (.282). UB is the only team in the conference to have three freshmen averaging 25+ minutes per game and are one of just two teams to have a rookie leading the squad in minutes played.
Ohio is 9-4 overall and 3-0 in league play after defeating Eastern Michigan on Wednesday. Bailey Tabeling leads the Bobcats offensively, averaging 13.7 points per game. Bella Ranallo (11.4 rpg) and Aliah McWhorter (10.1) are also averaging in double figures while Asiah Baxter is averaging 9.2 points per contest while leading the squad in rebounding (5.6 rpg).
As a team, Ohio leads the MAC and ranks in the top 10 nationally in free throws attempted per game (24.9) while also ranking in the top 20 in free throws made per contest (16.2). Additionally, the Bobcats lead the league and rank in the top 10 in the nation in three-pointers made (9.7) and attempted (30.9) per game while also leading the MAC in steals per game (12.8) and turnovers forced (21.5).
