Bulls Open MAC Play at Eastern Michigan

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (4-1-1) opens Mid-American Conference play on Thursday, September 18 at Eastern Michigan. Kickoff at Scicluna Field is set for 4:30pm.
It is the 30th meeting between Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with the series knotted at 11-11-8. The Bulls defeated the Eagles 1-0 at UB Stadium a year ago.
Buffalo wrapped up non-conference action with a 4-1 win over Mercyhurst on September 11. Senior midfielder Ashley Reyes and graduate student defender Frederique St.-Jean both recorded their first goals of the season in the win. The Bulls dominated the stat sheet, recording season-highs in shots (30) and shots on goal (15) and had a 10-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities, while limiting the Lakers to just one shot on the night.
The Bulls are balanced offensively, with 12 goals scored off the feet of seven different players, led by junior midfielder Laiken Kiser who has three goals and graduate student forward Jasmine Guerber who has a pair of goals. Junior Lexie Thompson leads the Bulls between the pipes, compiling a 4-1-1 overall record. She leads the MAC in shutouts (3) while ranking second in goals against average (.69) and save percentage (.840).
As a team, the Bulls are second in the MAC and rank in the top 50 nationally in goals against average (.667), save percentage (.846), shutout percentage (.500) and corner kicks per game (6.8). Offensively, the Bulls lead the league in goals (12), shots per game (16.5) and shots on goal (8.3) per game while ranking second in points (34) and assists (10).
Eastern Michigan finished non-conference action with a 2-4 record after falling to Loyola Chicago 2-0 on September 11. is 0-6-1 after falling at Lipscomb 6-0 on Sunday. Junior forward Olivia Sipsock leads the Eagles offensively with two goals while sophomore midfielder Maya Marolly has a team-best two assists. Ella Holland leads EMU between the pipes, as she owns a 1.50 goals against average and .690 save percentage with 20 saves in six starts this season.
Up next, Buffalo will continue league action with a pair of home contests, beginning on Sunday, September 21 as the Bulls welcome Miami (OH) to UB Stadium for a 1pm contest.
