Bulls Fall in Regular Season Home Finale Against Miami (OH), 84-69
3/4/2025 10:26:00 PM | Men's Basketball
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (9-21, 4-13 MAC) had four players score in double figures, but it wasn't enough to get by the Miami (OH) RedHawks (22-8, 13-4 MAC) on Tuesday in Alumni Arena. Senior guard Tyson Dunn finished with a game-high 16 points while adding 8 assists.
Dunn's 8 assists moved him to seventh all-time in single season assists in program history as he passed Ken Pope (1973-74, 156) and John Boyer (2009-10, 159). He trails Davonta Jordan's 2019-20 mark by 4 assists.
Noah Batchelor recorded 10 rebounds for the third time in the conference slate.
Ryan Sabol moved to solo 10th all-time in single season made threes in UB history with 78 as he added one make on the night.
For the second time in his career, Bryson Wilson scored at least 10 points in three straight games with 11 points against the RedHawks.
The Bulls took the immediate lead on the opening possession and kept the lead until the 15:20 mark of the first half. The RedHawks tied the game at 11 and shortly after took control of the game. Miami never lost the lead following that point despite Buffalo keeping it to single digits until the closing seconds of the half. The RedHawks went to the locker room leading 47-35 at the half.
Miami's ball movement was tough to defend as their largest lead of the game came at the 12:36 mark, 66-46. A push by the Bulls came in the final 7 minutes of the game as they made it a 12-point game, but it was too big of a deficit to overcome. Miami took home the 84-69 win.
QUOTING HEAD COACH GEORGE HALCOVAGE III
"The first half they [Miami] went on a couple of spurts that extended the lead. We gave them too many, easier open looks from three. We were there, and we didn't put enough pressure on the ball, and they were able to rise up and knock those down. That got them going and going down 12 at half after having it at the four-minute timeout to a 2-point game was really the difference in the game. Credit to Travis [Steele], so much respect for him and Miami (OH). They're going to be a tough out when they get to the conference tournament."
