Bulls Travel to Miami (OH) on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (20-4, 9-3 MAC) closes out the month with a pair of road games, beginning on Saturday as they travel to Oxford for a clash with the Miami (OH) RedHawks at 1pm.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Steve Baker (play-by-play) and Carol Smith (color) announcing and can be heard on 1400 AM and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 52nd overall meeting between Buffalo and Miami (OH) with the Bulls owning a 30-21 overall record. The Bulls have won 17 of the last 18 meetings, most recently a 59-51 win at Alumni Arena last month.
Buffalo outscored Kent State 24-13 in the fourth quarter to complete a second half comeback and defeat the Golden Flashes 76-70 in a pivotal late-season matchup at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night. Fifth year guard Chellia Watson put on a show for the home crowd, tying a season-high with 28 points to go with nine rebounds. Sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams also scored in double figures with 17 points, including 7-of-9 shooting from the free throw line and Noelani Cornfield flirted with a triple-double with 13 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.
The Bulls, one of two MAC teams ranked in the top 15 of the Mid-Major Top 25, are led offensively by Watson who is averaging 20.4 points per game. Lewis-Williams is averaging 14.0 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg) and Cornfield is also averaging in double figures at 10.6 ppg, while leading the team and ranking 22nd nationally in assists per game (5.4).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring margin (+16.0), field goal percentage (.454), field goal defense (.375), 3FG defense (.276) and turnover margin (+8.2) while also ranking in the top three in scoring offense (75.2), scoring defense (59.2), assists (16.5), steals per game (10.6) and free throw percentage (.769).
Miami (OH) is 16-8 overall, and 8-5 in league play, after defeating Akron 70-58 on Wednesday. The RedHawks are led offensively by Enjulina Gonzalez who is averaging 17.0 points per game. Amber Tretter (10.5 ppg) and Maya Chandler (10.4 ppg) are also averaging in double figures, with the former also leading the team in rebounding at 8.3 boards per contest. Gonzalez, a three-time MAC Player of the Week, currently ranks third in the MAC in scoring and has scored in double figures in 19 straight games, including seven 20+ point performances. Tretter, a 2024 All-Freshman Team selection, is nearly averaging a double-double despite playing just 27.7 minutes per contest.
The RedHawks have been excellent defensively this season as they lead the league in scoring defense (56.3) and steals per game (11.7) while ranking second in field goal defense (.376), turnovers forced (21.6) and turnover margin (+4.2). Offensively, Miami ranks third in free throw percentage (.763), fourth in scoring margin (+9.5) and three-point field goal percentage (.330) and fifth in threes made per game (7.1).
