Bulls Host the Chippewas in Weekend Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (5-9, 2-3 MAC) are back home for four straight matches beginning with the Central Michigan Chippewas (4-13, 1-4 MAC) on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. Saturday's match will mark Buffalo's Block Out Cancer Night. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Chippewas are winners of the last two matches over the Bulls as they also lead the all-time series, 22-9. Under Head Coach Scott Smith, Buffalo is 3-5 against the Chippewas.
In their midweek #MACtion match at Akron, the Bulls found themselves in the win column as they took down the Zips in five sets, 25-27, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 15-12. The Bulls have now beaten the Zips in seven straight matches.
Manoela Forlin led the offense for the Bulls as she recorded 23 kills with a .340 hitting percentage. Reese Collins was error free on the attack with seven kills on 15 attempts. Collins also added five total blocks setting a career high. Emerson Matthews tallied 11 kills with a career-high three aces.
Maddie Mitchell recorded her team leading fifth double-double of the season with 42 assists and 14 digs. Keira Kleidon had a team-high 17 digs to go with her three aces, tying a career high.
From the service line, Eve Adams had a career-high three aces.
ABOUT THE BULLS
• Junior Manoela Forlin has 10+ kills in 10 of the 14 matches this season.
• In just conference play, Emerson Matthews is fourth in points per set (4.32), fifth in total kills (70) and kills per set (3.68), and sixth in aces per set (0.42).
• Preseason All-MAC honoree Manoela Forlin and Emerson Matthews have been the Bulls' one-two punch on the offensive attack. Through the entire season, Forlin is averaging 3.49 kills per set as Matthews has 3.14.
• Maddie Mitchell has five double-doubles on the season. Mitchell has recorded double-doubles in back-to-back matches against Ohio (10/4) and Akron (10/7).
• The Bulls currently have the fourth-best hitting percentage in the MAC at .207, good for 183rd in the nation.
• The Bulls are 14-3 in sets where they reach 15 first, but are 4-31 when the opposition gets to 15 first.
