Bulls Look to Bounce Back on Wednesday at Bowling Green

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (12-1, 1-1 MAC) closes out the road trip on Wednesday as they travel to Bowling Green for a clash with the Falcons at 7pm.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Brad Woznicki (play-by-play) and Brandon Loe (color) announcing, and can be heard on ESPN 1520 and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 53rd overall meeting between Buffalo and Bowling Green with the Falcons owning a slim 28-25 series advantage. The Bulls swept BGSU a season ago, including a win in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Buffalo fell to Kent State 82-73 at the M.A.C. Center on Sunday afternoon. It was UB's first loss, ending a historic run to start the season. Three Bulls scored in double figures, led by sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams who scored a career-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds. Chellia Watson also surpassed the 20-point mark with 21 and Noelani also got in double figures with 15 points.
The Bulls, who are currently ranked sixth in the Mid-Major Top 25, have four players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.4 points per game. Lewis-Williams (13.5 ppg) and Terah Harness (10.7 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Alexis Davis is nearly averaging a double-double at 10.2 ppg and 7.5 rpg. Cornfield is averaging 9.6 points per contest while leading the team and ranking in the top 20 nationally in assists per game (5.5).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (79.6), scoring defense (57.2), scoring margin (+22.4), field goal percentage (.455), field goal defense (.352), 3FG defense (.268), assists (17.5) and turnover margin (+8.8) while also ranking in the top three in rebounding (40.2), steals per game (10.9) and free throw percentage (.780).
The Bowling Green Falcons are 7-6 overall, and 1-1 in league play, after defeating Eastern Michigan 90-76 on Saturday. The Falcons were picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll after going 16-15 a season ago and earning a postseason WNIT appearance. Bowling Green is balanced offensively as they have four players scoring in double figures, led by senior guard Amy Velasco who is averaging 17.1 points per game while also leading the team in assists (4.8 apg). Paige Kohler (12.0 ppg), Erika Porter (11.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and Lexi Fleming (11.2 ppg) are also averaging in double figures, while Keiryn McGuff is leading the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg). 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year Lexi Fleming returned to action in December after missing last season with an injury and has scored in double figures in three straight games.
Historically, the Falcons have been one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons have the second-highest winning percentage of all MAC institutions, and the second-most conference wins of all 12 programs.
