Bulls Host Miami (OH) on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (14-2, 3-2 MAC) returns home for a pair of games beginning on Saturday as they welcome Miami (OH) to Alumni Arena for a 2pm contest. It is the team's Pink Game, sponsored by Kaleida Health.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be streamed on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 51st overall meeting between Buffalo and Miami (OH) with the Bulls owning a 29-21 overall record. The Bulls have won 16 of the last 17 meetings, most recently a win at Millet Hall in the lone matchup of the year last season.
Buffalo led for all but two minutes as they defeated Eastern Michigan 77-55 on Wednesday night. Overall, nine Bulls scored on the night, led by Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 21 points. Senior guard Sitota Gines had a banner night as she scored a career-high 18 points to go with six rebounds and two steals and Terah Harness also scored in double figures with 11 points, including three makes from beyond the arc.
The Bulls, one of three MAC teams ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25, have three players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.9 points per game. Kirsten Lewis-Williams (12.6 ppg) and Harness (10.1 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Alexis Davis is averaging just under a double-double at 8.8 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Noelani Cornfield is averaging 9.7 points per contest while leading the team and ranking 38th nationally in assists per game (5.1).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (77.4), scoring margin (+18.8), field goal percentage (.452), field goal defense (.359) and turnover margin (+8.1) while also ranking in the top three in scoring defense (58.6), 3FG defense (.259), assists (16.6), steals per game (10.3) and free throw percentage (.784).
The Miami (OH) RedHawks are 10-5 overall, and 3-2 in league play, after defeating Northern Illinois 73-52 on Wednesday. The RedHawks are led offensively by Enjulina Gonzalez who is averaging 16.9 ppg. Amber Tretter is also averaging in double figures at 11.4 ppg while leading the team in rebounding at 7.7 boards per contest. Gonzalez, a two-time MAC Player of the Week, currently ranks third in the MAC in scoring and has scored in double figures in 10 straight games, including five 20+ point performances. Tretter, a 2024 All-Freshman Team selection, is nearly averaging a double-double despite playing just 27.1 minutes per contest.
The RedHawks have been excellent defensively this season as they lead the league in scoring defense (55.9), steals per game (12.3) and turnovers forced (22.7) while ranking in the top three in field goal percentage (.431), field goal defense (.380). Offensively, Miami leads the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (.362) while ranking second in threes made per game (7.7). Four players are shooting 40% or better from deep this season.
