Bulls Travel to Bowling Green on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (15-10, 8-6 MAC) travels to Bowling Green for a pivotal matchup with the Falcons on Wednesday night. The Bulls and Falcons are currently tied for four place in the Mid-American Conference standings with an 8-6 league record.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 52nd overall meeting between Buffalo and Bowling Green with the Falcons owning a 28-23 series advantage. The Bulls defeated Bowling Green 82-72 in the first meeting of the season.
Buffalo used a strong start to propel themselves to a 67-54 win over Ohio at Alumni Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls were led offensively by Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Alexis Davis notched her second straight double-double, recording a career-high 16 points and matching a career-best with 12 rebounds, while senior Rana Elhusseini and sophomore Hattie Ogden added nine points each.
Watson, a five-time MAC Player of the Week, leads the league and ranks seventh in the nation in scoring at 23.2 points per game to go with 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. She also ranks in the top 15 nationally in field goals made (229), field goals made per game (9.2) and total points (580). Freshman Kirsten Lewis-Williams currently ranks 11th in the MAC in scoring (11.8 ppg) and 16th in rebounding (5.3 rpg), which is first and third, respectively, among all rookies in the league in those categories. Elhusseini (8.3 ppg, 3.3 apg) and Ogden (8.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg) continue to be impact players for UB while Davis leads the Bulls in rebounding (6.3 rpg).
As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC in field goal defense (.381) and three-point field goal defense (.271) while also ranking in the top four in the league in scoring defense (62.1), scoring margin (+4.0), free throw percentage (.720), defensive rebounding (26.8) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+0.9). The Bulls are averaging 34 points per game in the paint while also turning defense into offense, averaging 15 points per contest off opponent's turnovers.
The Bowling Green Falcons are 14-11 overall and 8-6 in league action after defeating Northern Illinois 82-73 on Saturday. BGSU is 7-4 at home this season, including 5-2 in MAC play. The Falcons are led offensively by Morgan Sharps who is averaging 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Amy Velasco (14.9 ppg, 4.8 apg), Erika Porter (11.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and Paige Kohler (11.1 ppg, 3.6 apg) are also averaging in double figures. Sharps scored her 1,000th career point in the win at Akron. She is now in eighth place in program history for career threes made and is on pace to break the school record for threes made per game. Velasco leads the team in both assists and steals, while ranking second in scoring.
As a team, Bowling Green leads the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (.345) while ranking second in field goal percentage (.436), third in assists per game (14.5), fourth in 3FG made per game (7.1), scoring offense (68.0) and blocks per game (3.0).
