Bulls Welcome Ohio to Alumni Arena on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (14-10, 7-6 MAC) concludes its homestand on Saturday as they welcome the Ohio Bobcats to Alumni Arena for a 2pm contest.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 50th overall meeting between Buffalo and Ohio with the Bulls owning a 28-21 series advantage. The Bulls defeated Ohio 81-63 in the first meeting of the year.
For the second straight game, a second half rally came up short as Buffalo fell to Northern Illinois 66-57 on Wednesday night. Redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson led all scorers with 16 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. Kirsten Lewis-Williams also scored in double figures with 14 points while Alexis Davis recorded a double-double with 11 points a career-high with 12 rebounds.
Watson, a five-time MAC Player of the Week, leads the league and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 23.6 points per game to go with 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. She also ranks in the top 15 nationally in field goals made (222), field goals made per game (9.3) and total points (559). Lewis-Williams currently ranks 11th in the MAC in scoring (12.0 ppg) and 17th in rebounding (5.3 rpg), which is first and third, respectively, among all rookies in the league in those categories. Senior Rana Elhusseini (8.3 ppg, 3.3 apg) and sophomore Hattie Ogden (8.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) continue to be impact players for UB while Davis leads the Bulls in rebounding (6.0 rpg).
As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC in field goal defense (.381) and three-point field goal defense (.272) while also ranking in the top four in the league in scoring defense (62.5), scoring margin (+3.7), free throw percentage (.716), defensive rebounding (26.7) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+0.9). The Bulls are averaging 34 points per game in the paint while also turning defense into offense, averaging 15 points per contest off opponent's turnovers.
The Ohio Bobcats are 8-16 overall and 5-8 in league action after defeating Kent State 79-77 on Wednesday. The Bobcats are led offensively by Jaya McClure who is averaging 12.7 points and 3.3 assists per game. Kennedy Watkins (10.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg) is also averaging in double figures while Bailey Tabeling (9.4 ppg), Lalay Fantroy (8.6 ppg) and Monica Williams (8.5 ppg) are also main contributors. McClure leads the team in assists and has recorded nine double figure scoring games this season. She recorded a career-high 26 points in the win over Kent State. Tabeling is second in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (.476) and third in total threes made (55).
The Bobcats lead the MAC in total steals (258) and steals per game (10.8) while also ranking in the top five in total three-pointers made (173), 3FG made per game (7.2) and turnover margin (+2.2). Ohio has also found success turning defense into offense as they force 21.7 turnovers per game and average 19 points off those turnovers.
