Bulls Continue MAC Play at Akron on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (14-8, 7-4 MAC) resumes Mid-American Conference play on Saturday at Akron.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Michael Reghi (play-by-play) and Jeff Phelps (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 61st overall meeting between Buffalo and Akron with the Bulls owning a 35-25 series advantage. The Bulls edged the Zips 59-57 in the first meeting of the year.
Buffalo defeated Southern Miss 62-46 in the MAC SBC Challenge a week ago, powered by four Bulls scoring in double figures, including a historic triple double by senior guard Rana Elhusseini. Elhusseini's triple-double was just the third in program history as she finished the day with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson led all scorers with 22 points. Sophomore Hattie Ogden and freshman Alexis Davis both recorded a double-double, with Davis pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds and Ogden matching her career-best with 10.
Watson, a five-time MAC Player of the Week, leads the league and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 24.5 points per game to go with 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest. She also ranks in the top 10 nationally in field goals made (213), field goals made per game (9.7) and total points (538). Kirsten Lewis-Williams currently ranks 11th in the MAC in scoring (11.5 ppg) and 15th in rebounding (5.5 rpg), which is first and third, respectively, among all rookies in the league in those categories. Elhusseini (8.6 ppg, 3.4 apg) and Ogden (8.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg) continue to be impact players for UB while Davis leads the Bulls in rebounding (5.8 rpg).
As a team, Buffalo is ranked in the top four in the MAC in scoring offense (68.3), scoring defense (64.0), scoring margin (+4.3), field goal percentage (.430), field goal defense (.385), three-point field goal percentage (.315), 3FG defense (.287) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.0). The Bulls are averaging 35 points per game in the paint while also turning defense into offense, averaging 15.4 points per contest off opponent's turnovers.
The Akron Zips are 8-14 overall and 3-8 in league action after falling to Arkansas State 81-67 on Saturday. The Zips are led offensively by preseason All-MAC first team selection Reagan Bass who is the only player in the league to be averaging a double-double at 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Morgan Haney (9.5 ppg, 2.9 apg), Lanae Riley (8.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Kaia Woods (8.0 ppg, 2.1 apg) have also been main contributors.
Bass is one of six players in NCAA Division I women's basketball to average 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Her 12 doubles-doubles rank 16th nationally. She is rated 14th in free throws made (118) and defensive rebounding (7.6), 15th in the NCAA free throw attempts (154), 18th in rebounding (10.5), 22nd in double-doubles (12) and 31st in total rebounds (231). As a team Akron has proved to be strong in the paint, averaging 29.5 points per game for 648 total points.
