
Mitchell Qualifies for World Team Trials

BUFFALO, NY – After a successful trip to the US Open Championships in Las Vegas, University at Buffalo wrester Sam Mitchell has qualified for the World Team Trials later this month. Mitchell will compete in Colorado Springs, CO on May 20-21 for a chance to earn a spot on the world team for the United States.
Mitchell is coming off a sixth-place finish at the US Open Championships. Competing at 97kg, he opened the tournament by earning a 14-2 win over Nebraska's Eulogio Dalmeida. He then topped 5th-seed Ben Kueter of the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club before losing in the semifinals to Olympic gold medalist J'den Cox.
Mitchell is coming off his best season for the Bulls. He went 21-8 overall and 10-4 in duals. He placed third at the 2023 MAC Championships.
