Bulls Travel to Western Michigan on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (8-6, 3-2 MAC) looks to bounce back as they travel to Western Michigan on Saturday. It is a battle of 3-2 teams in league play.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Conor Clingen (play-by-play) and Lexi Ayala (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 30th overall meeting between Buffalo and Western Michigan with the Bulls owning a 17-12 series advantage. The Bulls are 8-4 in their last 12 meetings with the Broncos, most recently a 63-49 victory in the 2022 MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Buffalo saw its three-game win streak come to an end in a loss to Ball State on Wednesday. Four Bulls scored in double figures, led by Jazmine Young who scored 15 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. Fellow fifth year Re'Shawna Stone scored 13 points to go with five rebounds and a team-high six assists while Zakiyah Winfield added 13 points, seven rebounds four assists. Fifth year Latrice Perkins also scored in double figures, recording a UB career-high with 12 points.
Stone leads the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) while adding 5.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest and has scored in double figures in 10 straight games. Winfield leads the team rebounding at 11.1 rebounds per game while also scoring 14.4 ppg and adding 3.9 apg and has recorded 10 double-doubles on the season. She is the top rebounding guard in the nation and ranks in the top 10 in the nation in double-doubles, rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Young has scored in double figures in 11 of 14 games and is averaging 14.0 points and 1.7 assists per contest. The Bulls lead the MAC in rebounding defense (33.8) while ranking in the top half of the conference in scoring defense (61.1), field goal defense (40.5), 3FG defense (29.6) and field goal percentage (44.1).
The Western Michigan are 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the MAC after defeating Ohio 68-57 on Wednesday. Redshirt sophomore guard Lauren Ross leads the Broncos in scoring at 21.8 ppg. Taylor Williams is also scoring in double figures at 14.4 ppg while leading the team in rebounding at 8.6 rpg. Ross leads the league in scoring while ranking fourth in free throw percentage (.843) and seventh in field goal percentage (.457). Williams leads the MAC in block shots per game (2.0), while ranking 11th in scoring (14.4) and third in rebounding (8.6) and field goal percentage (.484). Western Michigan was picked to finish sixth in the MAC preseason poll.
