Women’s Soccer Unveils 2022 Fall Schedule

BUFFALO, NY – After leading the University at Buffalo women's soccer team to their seventh straight MAC Tournament appearance, ninth year head coach Shawn Burke looks ahead to what promises to be another great year for UB as he announced the Bulls' 2022 fall schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The schedule is highlighted by a non-conference matchup at Big Ten opponent and Final Four participant, Rutgers, and includes rematches with Duquesne and Yale. The Bulls will play 10 home matches at UB Stadium.
"Each and every year we are looking for new challenges to continue to raise the bar and 2022 is no different," said Burke. "With the experience we bring back, we feel this non-conference slate will help prepare us for soccer in November."
For the first time since 2016 the Bulls will open the regular season at home as they host Binghamton on August 18 at 7pm before welcoming Big 4 foe Niagara to UB Stadium on Sunday, August 21st at 7pm.
Buffalo will then travel to Piscataway, NJ for a clash with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on August 28th at 1pm.
The Bulls will return home to host crosstown rival Canisius on September 1st at 7pm before traveling to Pittsburgh for a rematch with the Duquesne Dukes on September 4th at 1pm.
Buffalo will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule with a pair of home contests, beginning with a clash against Colgate on September 11th at 1pm and followed by a rematch with Yale on September 18th at 1pm.
The Bulls will open Mid-American Conference play on September 22nd at home as they welcome the Akron Zips to town for a showdown under the lights at 7pm. UB will then hit the road for a pair of games, beginning at Ohio on September 25th at 1pm before traveling to Toledo for a clash with the Rockets on September 29th at 7pm.
The Bulls will continue play against the MAC West on October 2nd as UB hosts Western Michigan at 1pm before traveling to Oxford, Ohio to take on the Miami RedHawks on October 6th at 4pm.
Buffalo will then return home for a pair of contests beginning with a tilt against Eastern Michigan at 1pm on October 9th before welcoming Northern Illinois for an evening game on October 13th at 7pm.
UB will then travel to Ohio for a rematch of the 2021 MAC Tournament semifinal game, against the Bowling Green Falcons on October 16th at 1pm before returning home to host Central Michigan on October 20th at 7pm.
The Bulls will wrap up the regular season with a pair of road contests, beginning at Ball State on October 23rd before closing out regular season play with an afternoon contest at Kent State on October 27th at 3pm.
The Mid-American Conference Tournament will begin with the quarterfinal round on Sunday, October 30th and will continue with the semifinals on Thursday, November 3rd, with the championship held on Sunday, November 6th.
Buffalo finished the 2021 season with a 13-4-3 overall record and an appearance in the MAC Tournament semifinals. Four Bulls earned All-MAC recognition, including All-Midwest Region Second Team selection Payton Robertson, and MAC All-Freshman team honorees Alya Ruken and Arianna Zumpano, who all return in 2022.
