
Bulls Defeat Central Michigan 7-5 on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team defeated Central Michigan 7-5 in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Margo Jonker Stadium.
Central Michigan got on the board first, scoring two runs on two hits to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Bulls got their first baserunners on in the top of the second as Alexis Matheney singled and Brianna Castro walked and later UB executed a double steal to score a run and cut the lead to one.
The Buffalo bats continued to heat up in the third inning as Celyna Shaw doubled to left field and Anna Aguon followed with an RBI single to tie the game at two. A couple batters later, Rachel Steffan signeld and Alexis Lucyshyn followed with a three-run home run to put UB up 5-2.
The long ball continued to power the Bulls in the top of the fifth as Olivia Kincanon blasted a solo home run to give the Bulls a 6-2 lead. After CMU pulled within two the Bulls added an insurance run in the top of the seventh off an RBI single by Madison Fernimen to put UB up 7-4. The Chippewas threatened in the bottom of the inning, pulling within two on a solo home run by Lucyshyn and the UB defense came up strong as they held on for the victory.
Buffalo concludes the series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1pm.
