Bulls Pound NIU in 3-0 Victory

BUFFALO, N.Y. β The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (10-7, 2-3 MAC) came out victorious against the Northern Illinois Huskies (11-4, 4-1 MAC) on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulls won the match in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, to give the Huskies their first conference loss of the season.

The Bulls found themselves up 4-3, and never looked back in the first set. They would get up by as many as six at 21-15. The Huskies clawed their way back to make it 25-23 as the Bulls took set one.

The only point the Bulls trailed in the second set was when it was 1-0. They would lead 16-12 and never lost the lead again as UB won the second set, 25-22.

In a very tight third set, the Bulls prevailed. UB scored 4 of the final 5 points to secure the victory.

The Bulls offense was on point as they racked up an astounding 55 kills on the day. In the first set alone, the Bulls had 22 kills. Katrin Trebichavska led all players with 14 kills. Stacia Gollogly and Courtney Okwara each had 11 kills, Abby Leigh finished with nine, and Cali Assaley had seven.

Mandy Leigh had 101 total assist attempts with 44 being successful. She finished with an assist percentage of .436.

The Bulls are back in action on Friday, Oct. 7 at Toledo.
