In game one, Anna Aguon got the Bulls going in a flash as she led off the game with a solo home run to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead.
Central Michigan broke through in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 5-1 lead.
The Bulls battled back in the top of the third as Aguon and Rachel Steffan reached base on singles and Alexis Matheney followed with a three-run home run to center field to cut the CMU lead to 5-4.
The long ball would continue to pace Buffalo in the top of the fourth as Alicia Peters blasted a three-run home run over the wall in left field to give the Bulls a 7-6 lead.
The Chippewas retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs on two home runs to go up 10-7.
Buffalo would claw back in the top of the fifth as it was Brianna Castro's turn to go yard, this time with a two-run home run to left, to pull the Bulls within one but CMU answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 13-9.
The Bulls scored a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout by Steffan, to cut the CMU lead to 13-10 but the rally would fall short as UB was unable to plate any runs in the seventh to extend the game.
The four home runs hit by the Bulls in game one tied a single-game program record.
Central Michigan continued to stay hot in game two as they scored five runs on three hits to take a 5-0 lead through two innings of play.
The Bulls broke through in the top of the third on back-to-back RBI singles by Peters and Steffan and would add another run on a CMU error in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3.
Buffalo would load the bases once again in the top of the fifth but would manage just one run on an RBI sac fly by Madison Fernimen and that would prove to be costly as the Chippewas would score two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two run home run to take an 8-4 lead through five innings.
The Bulls looked to string together one last rally in the top of the seventh as Matheney and Lucyshyn led off the inning with back-to-back singles and Castro smacked a two-RBI double to left field to cut the lead to 8-6. Hannah Bardeen came in to pinch hit and she singled to left to score Fernimen and then Aguon followed with an RBI single up the middle to tie the game 8-8.
Central Michigan would answer in their final at bat as Caitlyn Britton hit a walk-off solo home run to straightway center field to give the Chippewas the 9-8 victory.
The Bulls continue the series on Saturday with a single game beginning at 1pm.
