KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo volleyball team hung in there for each of the three sets on Friday afternoon, but the Bulls fells to the MAC West leading Western Michigan Broncos, 3-0.
The Broncos took the match 25-21, 25-23, 25-22 as WMU hit .235 for the afternoon, opposed to just .150 for the Bulls.
Back-to-back kills from freshman Emma Gielas in the opening set gave UB an 8-4 lead, but Western Michigan quickly tied it up. The Bulls again led 19-17, but the Broncos scored the next four points to take the 21-19 lead. Buffalo fought off one set point before the Broncos took the opening set, 25-21.
The second set was full of runs as both teams made big ones. With Western Michigan leading 9-7, UB scored the next 12 points, getting some solid serving from sophomore Jenna Sonnenberg. Freshman Milla Malik also had four kills during the run. However, with the Bulls leading 19-9, it was Western Michigan's chance to make a run. The Broncos ended the set on a 16-4 run, including scoring the final five points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Broncos pulled ahead 15-10 in the third and continued to lead 21-16 when the Bulls scored three straight points, en route to a 6-1 run, tying the set up at 22-22. However, those would be Buffalo's final points as WMU scored the final three for the set and match.

Junior Kyndal Bacon had 29 assists and seven digs.
