
Swim and Dive to Wrap Up Regular Season Against Cleveland State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (4-0, 3-0 MAC) will wrap up their regular season on Saturday, March 27 as they face off versus the Cleveland State Vikings (1-2). The meet is set to start at 1 p.m. with a senior ceremony beginning around 12:30 p.m. The Bulls are 10-4 against the Vikings all-time. With a UB win, this will be their first undefeated season since the 2017-18 where the Bulls finished 8-0 overall and 4-0 in MAC play.
THE SENIORS
Brittney Beetcher has had an astonishing career at UB. She has nine times in UB's all-time top-10 results. She is the school record holder in the 500 freestyle (4:45.64), fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:48.06) third in the 1,000 freestyle (9:57.57), third in the 1,650 freestyle (16:32.49), eighth in the 200 fly (2:02.11), second in the 400 IM (4:14.50), and is part of three 800 freestyle relay top times (third – 7:13.94, fifth – 7:15.38, eighth – 7:20.82). Beetcher earned First Team All-MAC honors at both the 2019 and 2020 MAC Championships. In 2018 she earned Second Team All-MAC honors. She would also get it done in the classroom as she received MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors in 2019 and 2020.
Isobel Holcomb has been a member of the diving team since the beginning of the 2017 season. During her time at UB she competed at two MAC Championships. In 2018 she placed 15th in the 3-meter dive with a finals score of 246.15, while also finishing in 16th place with a score of 213.45 in the finals. During the 2020 Championships, she was a crucial part of the team's second place finish as she finished ninth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 266.10.
Jenna Krull set three top-10 times with her time at UB. In the 100 breaststroke she ranks ninth (1:03.77), 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.13) and helped the 800 freestyle relay team to fifth in the record books (7:15.38). Krull swam all four years at UB and was an integral part of the 2019-20 campaign where the Bulls had a program-best finish at the MAC Championships with a second-place finish with 738.5 points.
Jillian Lawton set the lucky number 13 top times in program history. Three of which are school records in relay events: 200 medley relay (1:38.82), 200 freestyle relay (1:29.89) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.42). Lawton ranks fifth in both the 50 (22.64) and 100 freestyle (49.62), and fourth in the 100 fly (54.33). The other seven times she has in the top-10 are in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay. She earned Second Team All-MAC honors at the 2020 MAC Championships as well as earning Academic All-MAC honors in 2019.
Journi Northorp helped the Bulls in the diving well as she has two top-10 diving scores. In the 1-meter dive she is fifth with a score of 282.65 while in the 3-meter dive she ranks eighth with a score of 294.70. Northorp participated at the 2020 NCAA Diving Zones where she placed sixth in the 1-meter dive out of 62 divers. She advanced to the finals with a cumulative score of 533.00.
Nicole Roitenberg has a whopping 11 top program times during her UB tenure. She holds three individual school records in the 100 backstroke (53.75), 200 backstroke (1:56.68) and in the 200 fly (1:58.33). She is also part of the top ranks 400 medley relay team in school history (3:38.33). At the 2020 MAC Championships, Roitenberg earned First Team All-MAC honors, improving from her 2018 Second Team All-MAC distinction. After the 2019 season, she went on to earn Academic All-MAC honors.
Olivia Sapio wraps up her UB career with nine top-10 program times. She's the school record holder in the 400 IM (4:14.07) and ranks second in both the 200 butterfly (1:58.82) and 200 IM (1:59.23). Sapio also ranks fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:59.74). In relay events, she helped the Bulls to five top-10 results, three of which came in the 800 freestyle relay (third – 7:13.94, sixth – 7:15.48, 10th – 7:24.54). In the 200 medley relay she helped her team to ninth in school history (1:40.88) and tied for ninth in the 400 medley relay (3:46.36). She was the 2019 MAC Champion in the 400 IM while earning First Team All-MAC honors in 2019 and 2020. She also went on to earn MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors during those seasons, as well.
