
Meuwissen and Hanna Medal on Day Two of 2026 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships

AKRON, OHIO – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program continued competition at the 2026 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships with day two on Thursday. The Bulls concluded day two in third place of the nine teams in attendance with 191 points.
"The women had a solid day," said Head Coach Andy Bashor. "Our goal at this meet is to get better each session and we are looking forward to getting after it tomorrow."
DIVING WELL
The Bulls earned three of the eight finals spots in one-meter diving and two of three medals, as Sophie Meuwissen earned silver and Mallory Hanna took bronze.
Meuwissen's finals score of 282.60 was a new personal record that ranks ninth in program history. The second-place finish marked the junior's second MAC medal. Hanna's score of 279.60 to earn third was just shy of her personal best (280.60) that ranks 10th in program history. The senior earned her second MAC medal, taking bronze in the one-meter last year too. Freshman Adele Melamud placed eighth in the finals with a score of 248.55.
Meuwissen earned first place in the preliminary round field of 39 divers with a score of 270.10. Melamud (5th, 262.40) and Hanna (7th, 259.30) also finished inside the top eight divers to qualify for the finals.
Presley Dorsett took second place in the one-meter consolation finals with a season best score of 283.30. Dorsett placed 17th in the preliminary round of the event (228.45). Tristan Krajcarski (18th, 221.95), Daphne Fox (21st, 212.05) and Maggie Meyers (22nd, 211.55) also competed for the Bulls in the preliminary round.
IN THE POOL
Bella Forsman was the Bulls' top finisher in the pool on day two, taking fifth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:01.49. The sophomore fell just shy of her personal best in the event (2:01.15) that ranks sixth in program history. Forsman qualified for the finals of the event by placing sixth of 39 swimmers with a time of 2:01.86 in the preliminary round.
Grace Rider finished third in the consolation finals of the 200-yard individual medley. The junior's time of 2:01.83 joined the program ranks to become the eighth fastest in UB history. Kamilla Nemes placed seventh in the consolation finals (2:02.84) and Nicole Aguilar finished eighth (2:03.24). Nemes (12th, 2:02.63) and Rider (13th, 2:02.71) missed the finals qualifying mark by less than one second (2:01.89). Aguilar (16th, 2:02.92) posted a season best time in the preliminary round.
Elise McCaul placed eighth in the finals round of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.44. McCaul qualified for the finals by finishing fifth of 41 swimmers in the preliminary round with a time of 4:55.41. The time was a new personal record for the senior, surpassing her previous best set at last year's conference championship (4:55.51). The time fell within half of a second of the program's all-time top 10 (4:55.05).
Ava Cunningham finished seventh in the consolation finals of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.28. The senior qualified for the finals round with a time of 4:56.97, placing 12th in the field of 41 swimmers. Cunningham missed the A-finals mark by less than a second (4:56.29).
Jillian Strine posted a 50-yard freestyle time of 22.97 to place second in the consolation finals. Freshman Alex Bulat trailed to take eighth in the consolation finals (23.31). Strine (11th, 23.09) and Bulat (14th, 23.20) qualified for the B-finals of the 50-yard freestyle by placing top 16 in the field of 55 swimmers. Bulat's preliminary round time was a personal best.
The Bulls closed out day two in the pool by taking fourth in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Vivian Roy, Pinar Donmez, Aguilar and Strine posted a time of 3:39.33. The relay time was a season best for the Bulls, ranking eighth in program history.
