
10 Bulls Earn Finals Placements as Nemes Takes Silver on Day Three of MAC Swimming & Diving Championships

AKRON, OHIO – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program competed at day three of the 2026 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday. The Bulls had a strong day three, with 10 athletes competing in the evening finals. The program finished the third day of competition tied for fourth place among the nine teams in attendance, with 311 points.
"We had another good day in the pool and on the diving boards," said Head Coach Andy Bashor. "I am proud of the women and the way they are competing. We have a big day and a lot to accomplish tomorrow. Go Bulls!"
IN THE POOL
Nicole Aguilar set the tone for the Bulls in the morning preliminary heats and night finals rounds. The senior placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly finals with a new personal record of 53.60. The personal best also ranks fourth in program history. Aguilar qualified for the finals with a time of 54.06, placing fourth of 29 swimmers. Maddy Schnelzer placed 20th in the preliminary round, missing the consolation finals cut of 55.95 by less than half a second (56.28).
Kamilla Nemes continued the Bulls' momentum, bringing home the program's fourth medal of MAC Championships with a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley finals. Nemes' time of 2:18.48 was also a personal record, rising to fifth in program history. The Hungarian-native became the ninth freshman swimmer in program history to earn a medal in an individual event. Nemes placed third of 30 swimmers in the preliminary round with a time of 4:21.15.
Elise McCaul (6th, 4:20.96) and Bella Forsman (8th, 4:22.09) also competed in the finals of the 400-yard individual medley. McCaul's time was a personal record that ranks ninth in program history. McCaul (6th, 4:22.44) and Forsman (7th, 4:22.69) earned top-eight placements in the preliminary round to qualify for the finals. Karen Austin (21st, 4:30.24) missed the consolation finals cut by less than three seconds (4:27.81).
Alex Bulat competed in the 200-yard freestyle finals for the Bulls, posting a time of 1:49.21 to place sixth in the event. Bulat's time was a personal record that fell a second shy of the program's all-time top 10 (1:48.23). The freshman qualified for the finals with a time of 1:49.57, placing sixth of 38 swimmers.
Abbey Gardner competed in the consolation finals of the 200-yard freestyle, placing eighth in the heat and 16th overall with a time of 1:50.80. Gardner qualified for the consolation finals by placing 15th with a time of 1:50.42 in the preliminary round. The junior missed the finals cut by less than half a second (1:49.65). Jillian Strine finished 20th with a season-best time of 1:50.97, missing the consolation finals cut by less than half of a second (1:50.57).
Ava Pauly finished eighth in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.64). Pauly qualified for the finals with a time of 1:02.15 in the preliminary round, placing eighth of 24 swimmers. Pinar Donmez placed third in the consolation finals heat with a time of 1:02.04 and 12th in the event overall. Grace Rider trailed in the consolation finals to take sixth place (1:02.37) and 14th in the event overall. Rider (12th, 1:02.52), and Donmez (14th, 1:02.71) qualified for the B-final by placing inside the top 16 of the preliminary round.
Hattie Wasmuth competed in the 100-yard backstroke preliminary round, finishing 17th of 33 swimmers. The freshman missed the consolation finals cut by less than two-tenths of a second (55.26). Vivian Roy placed 19th in the preliminary round (55.63) and Schnelzer finished 26th (56.98).
DIVING WELL
Three of the six Bulls that competed in the preliminary round of the three-meter dive on Friday afternoon advanced to the finals. Adele Melamud (3rd, 288.55) and Presley Dorsett (6th, 271.85) placed top eight to qualify for the event finals, set to take place on Saturday night.
Tristan Krajcarski finished ninth in the preliminary round (259.80) to qualify for the consolation finals. The freshman earned first place in the evening consolation round, with a personal record score of 270.80.
Mallory Hanna (20th, 222.85), Maggie Meyers (21st, 218.70), Daphne Fox (22nd, 217.70) and Sophie Meuwissen (34th, 195.60) competed in the preliminary round. Hanna and Meuwissen medaled in the one-meter diving finals on Thursday night. A recap of those events can be accessed here.
