
Swim & Dive Opens MAC Championships at Akron with Silver Medal Finish

AKRON, OHIO – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program competed at day one of the 2026 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Akron on Wednesday night. The Bulls had a strong opening day, bringing home a silver medal in one of the two relay events.
The program began conference championships in the pool with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Vivian Roy, Pinar Donmez, Nicole Aguilar and Jillian Strine combined to post the 10th fastest time in program history (1:39.96). The Bulls were just over two seconds shy of a podium placement in the event (1:37.61).
The Bulls continued their momentum in the 800-yard freestyle relay, earning a silver medal. Abbey Gardner, Bella Forsman, Elise McCaul and Alex Bulat combined to finish with a time of 7:15.70. The time was also the 10th fastest in program history.
"I was happy with our relay teams tonight," said Head Coach Andy Bashor. "They handled the intense environment and raced great. We are excited for tomorrow."
