
Bulls Drop Weekend Finale To Kent State, 3-0

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team completed their third week of the season, falling to the Kent State Golden Flashes, 3-0. With the victory, Kent State remained undefeated on the year.
The Golden Flashes took the contest, 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 as Kent State outhit Buffalo, .337 to .092.
After dropping the first two sets, the Bulls came out in the third with more energy, playing some of their best volleyball of the weekend. A double block from Olivia DeBortoli and Emma Gielas put the Bulls ahead 11-9 in the third and UB continued to lead 12-11 before the Golden Flashes went ahead. Tied at 14-14, Kent State scored six straight en route to the win.
Offensively, the Bulls were led by sophomore Abby Leigh and freshman Stacia Gollogly, who each finished with nine kills. Leigh hit a team-high .368 as well. Courtney Okwara and Gielas each had four kills
Junior setter Kyndal Bacon paced the Buffalo offense with 14 assists, while sophomore Emma Puzausky added nine.
Defensively, sophomore libero Jenna Sonnenberg and junior Paige Beck each finished with four digs.
The Bulls again put forth a solid performance at the net, finishing with five total blocks, led by five from DeBortoli, who had two solos.
Buffalo returns to action next weekend when they face Ohio on Thursday at 6:30pm.
