BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced the signing of Lexi McNabb to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday afternoon.
McNabb is a 5' 7" guard who comes to Buffalo from Chandler, Arizona where she starred at Seton Catholic High School, averaging 13.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.8 assists last season. She also helped Seton Catholic win back-to-back Class 4A championships, scoring 21 points in the championship game. McNabb is playing her senior season at Lincoln Prep in Hamilton, Ontario, the same school as former Bull Hanna Hall.
She comes from a long line of winning as her mother, Raquel Nurse, was a point guard for the Syracuse women's basketball team in the mid-late 90's and her father, Donovan, was a two-sport athlete for the Orange and was a quarterback in the NFL for 13 seasons, most notably leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the 2005 Super Bowl. McNabb's cousins also include Kia Nurse, a guard for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury; Sarah Nurse, a member of the Canadian women's hockey national team and Darnell Nurse who currently plays in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers.
"Lexi is going to be an exciting player for our program," said Legette-Jack. "She defends, has a high IQ for the game and is a ferocious competitor. Not only does she bring a pedigree of character, academics, and basketball but she comes from a bloodline from greatness, and I love the family dynamics that we are creating here at UB. Please help me welcome Lexi McNabb to our Buffalo women's basketball family."
