Women’s Basketball Travels to Binghamton on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team travels to the Southern Tier for a clash with the Binghamton Bearcats on Saturday at 2pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Tim Heiman (play-by-play) and Colleen Jayne (color) announcing and can be heard on AM 1400 and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the eighth overall meeting between Buffalo and Binghamton with the Bulls owning a 6-1 series advantage. UB defeated the Bearcats 74-51 at Alumni Arena last season.
Buffalo led for all but one minute, turning in a dominant performance on both ends of the floor in a 77-51 win over Niagara at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night. Redshirt freshman guard Aniya Rowe had an impressive night as she stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high 18 points, including a perfect four-of-four from beyond the arc, to go with eight rebounds and six steals. Junior guard Paula Lopez scored in double figures for the sixth time this season with 12 points to go with five assists and freshman Deana Thompson also scored in double figures with 11 points.
Lopez leads the Bulls in scoring at 13.0 points per game. She has scored in double figures six times and leads the MAC in field goal attempts (116) while ranking sixth in field goals made (40). Freshman Meg Lucas is second in the league and ranks in the top 30 nationally in rebounding (10.3 rpg). As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC in offensive rebounds per game (17.4) while ranking second in rebounds per game (41.1), third in steals per game (11.3), fourth in three-point field goal defense (.244), and fifth in scoring defense (63.4) and blocks per game (3.0). UB is also third the league in bench points per game (24.1) and have gotten 25+ points from their reserves five times.
Binghamton is 4-3 overall after defeating San Diego 63-55 on Wednesday. The Bearcats were picked to finish sixth in the America East Conference preseason coaches poll. Junior guard Bella Pucci leads the Bearcats and ranks third in the league in scoring at 15.9 points per game. Fellow junior Kendall Bennett is also averaging in double figures (12.7 ppg) while leading the team in rebounding (7.3) and Leah Middleton (9.6 ppg) is also a main contributor. As a team, Binghamton leads the America East in scoring (73.0) and steals per game (11.4) while ranking second in free throw percentage (.734), offensive rebounding (13.3) and three-pointers made per game (7.0) and third in turnover margin (+3.1).
Up next, Buffalo will have a 10-day break before traveling to the Lonestar State for a pair of games at the ACU Christmas Classic, hosted by Abilene Christian, December 19-20.
