Bulls Roll Past Wright State On Friday Afternoon

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dominated their competition on Friday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Wright State 6-1 at Miller Tennis Center to improve to 9-2 on the season.
In doubles action, UB came back with a pair of wins to take the point. Sophomore Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou and junior Gabriella Akopyan won 6-2 at second doubles, but then Buffalo had to come back at third doubles to clinch the point. Senior Emel Abibula and freshman Azra Deniz Comlek did just that, winning 7-5.
UB took five of the six matches in singles, winning four of those in straight sets. Freshman Ambre Amat picked up the first win at five as she dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Sophomore Hsin-Yuan Shih then won at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Buffalo clinched the match at four where Comlek won, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
Sophomore Pia Schwarz continued her strong play at first singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win and Abibula won at second singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Buffalo continues its homestand tomorrow when the Bulls host in-state rival Binghamton at 12:30 pm at the Miller Tennis Center.
