
Bulls Sweep Binghamton, 7-0

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team concluded the weekend with another big victory as the Bulls swept Binghamton, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls improve to 10-2 on the season.
UB got out to the early lead by claiming the doubles point. Freshman Azra Deniz Comlek and senior Emel Abibula won 6-2 at third doubles to get things started and junior Gabriella Akopyan and sophomore Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won at second doubles, 6-4, to clinch the point.
Buffalo absolutely dominated singles play as the Bulls dropped just nine games total amongst the six singles matches. Sophomore Hsin-Yuan Shih shut out her opponent at sixth singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while freshman Ambre Amat won, 6-2, 6-0 at four. Abibula clinched the match for the Bulls at second singles, winning, 6-0, 6-2.
Akopyan then won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles, while Comlek came away with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at five. Sophomore Pia Schwarz closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at first singles.
After playing eight of their first 12 matches at home, the Bulls will have their first extended road trip playing the next six matches away from Western New York. That begins on Sunday, Mar. 15 at the College of Charleston.
