
Coach Jack Wins 300th Career Game as Bulls Win Nail Biter at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (16-11, 7-9 MAC) defeated the Ohio Bobcats in a nail biter, 63-62 on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls have now won three straight games for the first time since the new year. Today's win marks head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's 300th career win.
Buffalo had four players finish in double-figure. UB was led by Adebola Adeyeye who put up 16 points to go along with nine rebounds, Dyaisha Fair finished with 14 points and Theresa Onwuka and Keowa Walters finished with 10 points each.
After Ohio scored the opening six points, UB went on a 9-2 run to take a 9-8 lead. The Bobcats would then go on a 7-0 run to take a 15-9 lead. Adebola Adeyeye scored 10-straight points for the Bulls. Before the break, UB would close the gap before the end of the quarter as Ohio would lead 18-15.
Ohio would score the first basket of the second quarter, but their offense would struggle as UB held them scoreless for over four minutes. The Bulls would go and take a 22-21 lead as Marissa Hamilton would drill a second chance three pointer at the 5:10 mark. The lead didn't last long as the Bulls would turn the ball over five times that led Ohio to a 9-0 run to take a 30-24 lead with just over one minute left in the first half. Theresa Onwuka would score four points before the half came to a close. Bobcats to led 32-28 going into the break. UB had the advantage in second chance points at the half, 7-0.
To start the second half, Hanna Hall would knock in a basket after being fouled. Adeyeye would grab the rebound off Hall's missed free and lay it in to cut Ohio's lead to 33-32. After Adeyeye's layup, the Bulls shot 1 for their next 7 and Ohio would increase their lead to 42-36. Ohio would get hot fast to start the half as they shot 5-for-6 including 2-of-3 from three before the under-five media timeout. Out of the break, Ohio's momentum would stall as they were held scoreless for over four minutes as they turned the ball over five times. UB would go on a 10-0 run to take a 49-47 lead. The Bulls' defense held Ohio to 2-for-10 shooting to close out the quarter. Ohio would make a pair of free throws to tie the game at 49 before the quarter came to a close.
Freshman Loren Christie went on to score to start the fourth quarter and Hall would drain two three pointers to give UB a 57-56 lead. Keowa Walters added to the lead as she would lay in a basket assisted by Hall to give the Bulls a 59-56 lead. Ohio would tie the game up at 61, but with 1:02 remaining in regulation Walters would come in clutch as she would make a contested layup to give the Bulls a 63-61 lead. Off of a UB inbounds with 6.6 seconds remaining, Ohio would steal the ball and miss a layup. With .7 seconds left, Ohio's Peyton Guice was fouled and sent to the line. She would make the first of two free throws and miss the second. In a thrilling wire to wire game, UB would go on and secure the victory.
