
Bulls Roll Past Skidmore, 7-0

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team had little trouble with their competition on Sunday afternoon as the Bulls swept Skidmore College, 7-0. UB improves to 7-1 with the victory.
In doubles action, Buffalo's third doubles team of Gabriella Akopyan and Ambre Amat won 6-2, while the Bulls clinched the point at two as freshman Azra Deniz Comlek and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won 6-3. At first doubles, UB came away with a 6-4 win courtesy of Pia Schwarz and Emel Abibula.
UB won all six matches in singles, five of those coming in straight sets. Antoniou-Karademitrou started it off with the first win at sixth singles with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph, while Akopyan dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at three. Amat then clinched the victory for the Bulls at fifth singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
At second singles, Abibula won 6-3, 6-3 and at first singles Schwarz came back to win her first set in a tiebreaker, en route to a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win. The lone match to go to a third set was at fourth singles, where Comlek won 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.
The victory was Buffalo's third in a row as they return to the road next weekend for a pair of matches. The Bulls will face Lehigh on Saturday afternoon and will then play NJIT on Sunday morning.
