
UB Men's Indoor Track and Field Announces Awards

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's indoor track and field squad announced its team awards for the 2013 season. Head coach Perry Jenkins and his staff made the following presentations: Brian Crimmins was named as Top Newcomer; Chris Reape earned the Most Improved Award; Tomarris Bell won the Coaches' Award and Jonathan Jones was selected as the Most Valuable Athlete.
Crimmins set the UB school record of 2:24.16 in the men's 1,000-meters on February 9 at the SPIRE Division I Invitational in Geneva, OH. He also finished fifth in the mile, setting a season-best time of 4:14.21 at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships.
Reape picked up All-MAC Second Team recognition at the league championships meet as he finished second in the high jump setting a UB school record of 6-11.50 (2.12m). Additionally, he was named to the Academic All-MAC squad for the indoor season.
Bell, the team's Most Improved in 2012, set season-best marks in all three of his jumping events at the MAC Indoor Championships. Bell finished third in the men's triple jump with a season-best leap of 48-0.75 (14.65m). He also tied for fourth in the men's high jump at 6-9.50 (2.07m) and placed ninth in the men's long jump at 22-5 (6.83m) at the league meet.
Jones won Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA National Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, AR to cap off the season. He finished 13th in the shot put at 57-0 (17.37m). At the MAC Indoor Championships, Jones won the league title and set the MAC Championship and UB school records in the shot put with his throw of 64-3.25 (19.59m), nearly three feet better than his previous best prior to the league meet. For his efforts, Jones was named to the All-MAC First Team and was UB's fourth indoor shot put champion in the previous five meets.
The Bulls finished fourth at the MAC Indoor Championships in February.
