BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior Rob Golabek has been named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The league announced the weekly awards from its Cleveland headquarters this afternoon.
At last weekend's Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, Golabek finished second in the men's shot put and fifth in the hammer throw. Golabek turned in a shot put of 63-4.75 (19.32m), adding more than two feet to his previous season-best as he finished behind Penn State's Joe Kovacs (63-10.25, 19.46m). He had a top hammer throw of 184-1 (56.10m), adding an inch to his season best mark.
This is Golabek's third MAC Field Athlete of the Week honor. He was honored twice during the indoor season. This is his first outdoor honor of the season.
Golabek will be among a selected contingent of Bulls that will compete at the Penn Relays starting April 26.
