BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's track and field athlete Rob Golabek was named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The league announced their weekly award winners from its Cleveland headquarters late Tuesday.
Golabek broke his own school record in winning the men's shot put at the season opening Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State last Saturday. Golabek turned in a throw of 59-10.50 (18.25m), improving his previous indoor mark by 2.75 inches and winning the event more than 5.50 feet over teammate Corey Knox.
The throw is the best in the MAC this season and provisionally qualified Golabek for March's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Bulls travel to the Cornell Upstate Challenge this weekend.
