BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Matt Gac and Jamiee McClary have been selected by the Mid-American Conference as its weekly track and field athletes of the week. Gac, a thrower, was named the league's Male Field Athlete of the Week while McClary, a sprinter, was selected the Female Track Athlete of the Week.
McClary, a freshman, broke two school records at Penn State, both that she had set earlier this season. She lowered her 60-meter time to 7.62 in the preliminary heats, reaching the semifinal round. McClary also took home a second-place finish in the 200-meters with a 24.45 clocking, slicing .14 seconds from the record she established two weeks before at Kent State's Doug Raymond Invitational.
The Bulls travel to New York City for the New Balance Collegiate Meet this weekend. The New Balance meet will be UB's stiffest competition of the year as more than 200 college teams from around the country, including Arkansas, LSU, Brigham Young, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, Villanova, Georgetown, Michigan, South Carolina and Wisconsin, will be participating.
