Nick Collins begins his Second season in the 2020 – 2021 year as a member of the track and field coaching staff where he is responsible for the jumps and combined events.
In his first year at UB Coach Collins guided his groups to new bests including school record performances in the Women’s and Men’s Triple Jump. Under Coach Collins’ guidance Nisa Raqib set the indoor Triple Jump School record with a performance of 12.77m (41’10.75”) and Shevaughn Allen set the Men’s Indoor Triple Jump record with a performance of 15.96m (52’4.5”) and one month later improved the mark to 16.09m (52’9.5”). This performance qualified Allen for the 2020 NCAA Indoor National Championships in Albequerque and earned him the honor of being an NCAA All American. Allen is Coach Collins’ first all American at the Division I level.
Prior to Joining the UB staff Collins was at Northwest Nazarene University as the associate head coach/director of operations for the track and field teams. In his four years with the Nighthawks, his student-athletes set 12 school records in the jumps and combined events under his guidance. Twenty of his student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Championships, including Payton Lewis who Collins coached to be the D-II National Champion in the pole vault with a performance of 5.38m (17’7”) at the 2017 NCAA D-II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Collins was twice named USTFCCCA West Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
"Coach Collins brings experience and knowledge to our program and will help to complete our coaching staff as we continue to raise the level of the men's and women's track and field teams," Mitchell said. "I am excited for our student-athletes who will excel under his guidance. I am confident in his coaching knowledge and his ability to effectively recruit and coach in the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA Division I Level."
Prior to his time at Northwest Nazarene, Collins served four years as the assistant coach at Montana State University. He coached the sprints, hurdles, jumps and combined events with 24 new school records being set under this guidance. He was involved with meet management as well as recruiting, fundraising and organized the MSUB pole vault clinic, sprint/hurdles clinic and throws clinic.
Collins, a graduate of Central Washington University, earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in exercise science. A student of the sport, Collins has continued his education with numerous USTFCCCA certifications including strength & conditioning certification, combined events and multi event specialist certification and sports psychology for the track and field coach certification. He has also been a guest speaker at the Montana Coaches Association Coaches Clinic.

Collins resides in the Buffalo area with his wife Amanda and their 3 children, Elliot (6), Caroline (3), and Helen (1).
