BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is scheduled to compete at the University of Akron's Haynes Lancaster Open this Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Bulls enter their third meet following a season-opening weekend of eight personal best performances from returning student-athletes and three performances that entered the UB indoor record book. Aidan Norris rose to fourth in UB indoor history in the men's mile (4:07.62) and Vincent Guaresimo entered the ranks in the event at seventh (4:09.97). Freshman Nicalis Williams joined the program record book in his debut, taking the eighth spot in UB indoor history with a mark of 14.71 meters. Williams' mark ranks first in the Mid-American Conference following the season-opening weekend.
The Bulls are expected to have 15 student-athletes make their season debut at Akron. Eight of the 15 competed at last year's MAC Indoor Championships.
Michael Parks enters his senior season after winning the 60-meter hurdles at indoor conference championships last year. Parks' time of 8.05 seconds fell just shy of his personal best performance in the event (8.03), which ranks fourth in UB indoor history. The senior is expected to make his season debut in the event on Friday.
Sophomore Akuot Kuany is scheduled to make her season debut with the Bulls following a historic freshman campaign. Kuany entered both the indoor and outdoor record book last year in the high jump, taking the fourth spot in the indoor rankings (1.75m) and fourth on the outdoor list (1.78m). Kauny also earned a bronze medal in the event at MAC Outdoor Championships (1.71m). The sophomore makes her debut in the event on Friday.
Brian Murphy is scheduled to begin the indoor season in the men's pole vault. Murphy competed at indoor conference championships last season, earning a bronze medal in the pole vault with a mark of 4.91 meters. The mark rose to fourth in UB indoor history.
