How Do I Become a Tutor?
Application Process
If interested in becoming a tutor, please e-mail Diamond King-Williams, djw35@buffalo.edu the following information:
- UB transcript or Academic Advisement Report (AAR), documenting all relevant coursework
- Listing of available hours that you can tutor
- UB Person Number
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and proficient in subject area
- Minimum of A- achieved in subject area
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.3
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Good time management skills, with attention to detail when completing paperwork
Description of Duties
- Provide individual or group tutoring in the area of expertise
- Attend training and other workshops
- Frequently check email for appointments and other critical information
- Communicate professionally with student athletes and academic staff
- Correctly submit all documentation, reports, and timesheets in a timely manner
- Follow all NCAA and office guidelines with regards to tutoring, as taught during training

An interview may be granted if you meet the criteria listed above. Tutors are hired on an as-needed basis with regards to schedule availability, class coverage needed, and current semester demand.
