Women’s Basketball Hosts Central Michigan on Education Day at Alumni Arena on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will welcome over 5,000 local students to campus as they take on Central Michigan on Education Day at Alumni Arena on Wednesday at 11am.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Jared Zeidman (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 39th overall meeting between Buffalo and Central Michigan with the series knotted at 19 games apiece. The Bulls defeated the Chippewas in the lone matchup of the year last season.
Buffalo dropped a heartbreaker at Akron on Saturday. Freshman guard Aniya Rowe scored a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists. Meg Lucas recorded her seventh double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Janyah Bohanon scored 13 points and Ella Corry added 10.
Rowe leads the Bulls offensively, averaging 12.6 points per game. She has scored in double figures 11 times and leads UB in three-point field goal percentage (.371) while also ranking eighth in the league in steals per contest (2.0). Lucas leads the league and ranks 22nd nationally in rebounding (10.1 rpg). As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC and ranks in the top 40 nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.7). UB has started four freshmen in two straight games and have started three rookies eight times. They are one of just two teams to have a freshman leading their squad in minutes played.
Central Michigan is is 13-7 overall and 7-3 in league play after defeating Northern Illinois 75-70 on Saturday. The Chippewas are led offensively by preseason All-MAC selection Madi Morson who is averaging 19.0 points per game. Ayanna-Sarai Darrington is also averaging in double figures at 14.3 points per contest while leading the team in rebounding (7.7 rpg). Morson leads the MAC in points (379) and points per game (19.0), as well as field goals (134) and free throws (78) made. Darrington ranks in the top 20 nationally in field goal percentage (59.2) and offensive rebounds per game (3.9).
As a team, CMU is 17th in the nation in rebound margin (+9.8), 28th in rebounds per game (41.8), and 46th in offensive rebounding (14.6). Additionally, CMU ranks second in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (.341) and three-point field goal defense (.280).
