Women’s Basketball Travels to Eastern Michigan on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball travels to Ypsilanti for a clash with the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday at 2pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brent Balbinot (play-by-play) and Greg Steiner (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the 37th overall meeting between Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with the Bulls owning a 19-17 series advantage. The Bulls fell to the Eagles at Alumni Arena on January 28.
Buffalo fell to Ball State 88-55 on Wednesday night at Alumni Arena. The Bulls were led offensively by the freshman duo of Aniya Rowe and Ella Corry. Rowe led UB in scoring for the 13th time this season with a game-high 18 points to go with six assists and Corry recorded a new career-high with 16 points, including an efficient 5-of-9 shooting from the floor. Fellow freshman Meg Lucas notched 12 rebounds on the night.
Rowe leads the Bulls offensively, averaging 13.4 points per game. She has scored in double figures 15 times and leads UB in three-point field goal percentage (.350), assists (84) and minutes played (30.6) while also ranking seventh in the league in steals per contest (2.0). Lucas is second in the MAC and ranks 25th nationally in rebounding (10.2 rpg). The Bulls are second the MAC and rank 43rd in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (14.2). UB has started four freshmen in seven straight games and has started three rookies 13 times. They are one of two teams in the MAC to have a rookie leading them in minutes played.
Eastern Michigan is 11-13 overall and 4-9 in league play after falling at Toledo 62-51 on February 14. The Eagles are led offensively by Preseason All-MAC selection Sisi Eleko who is averaging a double-double at 17.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Peyton Hill (14.8 ppg) and senior Fernanda Ovalle (11.8 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while junior Ainhoa Cea leads the team in assists (147). Eleko leads the MAC and ranks in the top 20 nationally in rebounds per game (10.3) and double-doubles (15) while also ranking second in scoring (17.9) and third in field goals made (163). Cea leads the league and ranks fourth in the nation in minutes per game (37.5) while ranking second in the league and in the top 15 nationally in assists per game (6.1).
In MAC play, Eastern Michigan is third in the league in free throw percentage (.732) and field goal percentage (.444) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.309).
Up next, Buffalo will return for the final two-game homestand of the season, beginning on Wednesday, February 25 when they host Western Michigan at 6pm.
