Bulls Stumble to Notre Dame and Maryland on Saturday
2/14/2026 3:07:00 PM | Softball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The University at Buffalo softball team (2-7, 0-0 MAC) lost both their games in Saturday's doubleheader to Notre Dame, 6-0, and to Maryland, 8-0.
GAME 3 VS. NOTRE DAME
In the first game of the day, it didn't take long for the Fighting Irish to get on the board. Following a walk and a single, a pair of sac flies drove in the base runners for Notre Dame to take the early 2-0 lead. Emily Gorman reached on an infield single, but that was the only action from the Buffalo hitters in the first.
The score remained 2-0 until the fourth inning. Notre Dame had runners on second and third, but a groundout to second base scored the runner from third to extend their lead to 3-0. Bri Delaney's bat stayed hot as she singled to the left side, but the Bulls then went down in order after her hit.
The Fighting Irish padded their lead in the fifth with a solo shot to left and an RBI double to hold a 5-0 lead. In the seventh inning, Notre Dame added to their lead with an RBI single. The Bulls' offense went down in order as Notre Dame won, 6-0.
Gorman led the way going 2-for-3 from the dish as Reagan Terwilliger, Bri Delaney, Ardyn Hopf and Bella Smithson all recorded hits.
GAME 4 VS. MARYLAND
Buffalo seemed as though they captured the early momentum as Emily Gorman and Reagan Terwilliger reached base to start the game, but three straight outs stalled their offense. A sac fly to center gave the Terrapins the 1-0 after the first inning.
Abbey Nagel drove a ball through the right sight for a lead off single in the second, but ended up stranded on base. An RBI single by Maryland added to the lead as they led 2-0 after two.
The score remained 2-0, but it looked as though the Bulls would cut the deficit in the fifth inning. Tabitha von Kolen led the inning off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Unfortunately, the Bulls' bats went cold as she didn't cross home plate.
Maryland finished the game in the bottom of the sixth as they scored six runs to force the mercy.
Abbey Nagel, Reagan Terwilliger and Lily Lauck recorded the lone hits for the Bulls.
