Bulls Travel South to Participate at East Carolina Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (2-3, 0-0 MAC) are back at it this weekend as they'll participate at the East Carolina Pirate Clash. First pitch for the Bulls is set for 10 a.m. against the Maryland Terrapins on Friday. They'll also play East Carolina and Notre Dame this weekend.

The Bulls are coming off a 2-3 weekend at the UCF Black & Gold Classic where they picked up victories over CSU Bakersfield and Boston U. Against the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners, Olivia Russ earned the win as she threw 4.1 innings. She allowed three runs on six hits and a walk. Ardyn Hopf went 3-for-3 against the Roadrunners with an RBI as Emily Gorman and Nicole Allen had two hits apiece. For their second win of the season, the Bulls outlasted the Terriers in a 20-16 shootout. In a game that lasted over three and a half hours, Buffalo set a program record 23 hits in the game as the 20 runs allowed by Boston U was the most they've allowed in a single game in program history.

NOTES: The Bulls and Terrapins met last weekend at the UCF Black and Gold Classic where the Terrapins took home to 10-3 win. Buffalo held a 3-2 lead headed to the top of the seventh before Maryland got hot at the dish.
GAME 2
Buffalo at East Carolina
SERIES: East Carolina leads, 2-0
NOTES: The series between the Bulls and Pirates dates back to 2006 when the Bulls participated at the ECU State Farm Pirate Classic. The Pirates won the contest, 8-0. More recently, they battled each other at Coastal Carolina, but the Pirates came away with the 6-0 win.

SERIES: Notre Dame leads, 2-0
NOTES: It's been over 15 years since the Bulls and Fighting Irish played on the same field. Their last game was in 2010 at the Long Beach State Invite. In a nail biter, the Fighting Irish won, 1-0. Their first meeting came in the 2006 season and in similar fashion, Notre Dame took the contest, 1-0.

BY THE NUMBERS
- The Bulls have seven stolen bases on the season, the fourth-most of any MAC team.
- Emily Gorman improved her career batting average to .412 after going 9-for-16 (.529) last weekend. She is now hitting a program record .412. Reagan Terwilliger also hit .500 last week as she went 8-for-16.
- Abbey Nagel and Bri Delaney brought the fire power to the Bulls' offense last weekend as they both tallied six RBIs.
- Lily Lauck has a career total of 79 walks, this is the third-most in program history. Last season, she broke the program record for walks in a single season with 37.
- Nagel is fifth in program history with 35 career doubles.
- As a team, the Bulls have a .353 batting average, good for the fourth-best mark in the MAC.
