Bulls Stumble Against Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Buffalo Bulls volleyball team (3-5, 0-0 MAC) lost to the Duquesne Dukes (8-2, 0-0 Atlantic 10) to open the weekend in Pittsburgh, 23-25, 20-25, 16-25.
Manoela Forlin led the Bulls in kills (7), digs (7) and aces (1) on the night. Tehya Shaw tied her career high in blocks with a team-high seven. Her six block assists were a career best mark.
Duquesne outhit the Bulls, .222 to .140. On serves, the Dukes tallied nine aces to Buffalo's three.
SET 1
The Bulls looked in control of the first set as they took a 12-7 lead forcing a Duquesne timeout. UB reached the 15-point mark first, they entered the set with a 9-1 set record when doing so. Unfortunately, the momentum swung toward the Dukes out of the timeout as they tied the set at 16. Duquesne grabbed their first lead since 2-1 as they took a 22-21 lead. The Dukes came away with a 25-23 set win.
SET 2
It was a back and forth set as both teams traded point in the middle portion of the set. The Dukes outhit the Bulls, .312 to .111, as the Bulls managed just eight kills while forcing 12 errors. Out of the media timeout, Duquesne led, 15-14. Buffalo battled as much as they could, but couldn't stop the Dukes from taking the set, 25-20.
SET 3
Buffalo's offense struggled in the third set as they hit just .036. Duquesne kept their foot on the gas as they held a healthy lead at 14-6 as Buffalo called their second timeout. It was fairly even the rest of the way as Duquesne won, 25-16.
