Bulls Host Western Michigan on Senior Day

BUFFALO, NY β The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (23-6, 12-5 MAC) plays host to Western Michigan in the regular season finale on Saturday. It will be senior day at Alumni Arena, with a postgame ceremony to follow, presented by the UB Alumni Association.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Brian Koziol (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
The Bulls are 13-2 at home this season, including 6-2 in league play. UB can lock up the #3 seed in next week's MAC Tournament with a win or a Kent State loss.
This is the 34th overall meeting between Buffalo and Western Michigan with the Bulls owning a 19-14 series advantage. The Bulls defeated the Broncos 73-40 in Kalamazoo in the first meeting of the year.
Buffalo fell 72-60 at Ball State on Wednesday night. The Bulls were led offensively by senior Jordyn Beaty, who recorded a career-high 17 points to go with six rebounds. Sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams scored 14 points and Chellia Watson also scored in double figures with 12 points. Senior Noelani Cornfield just missed out on double figures with seven points while tying a career-high with 10 assists.
The Bulls, one of two MAC teams ranked in the top 15 of the Mid-Major Top 25, are led offensively by Watson who is averaging 20.0 points per game. Lewis-Williams is averaging 13.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (5.4 rpg) and Cornfield is also averaging in double figures at 10.5 ppg, while leading the team and ranking 17th nationally in assists per game (5.7).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (74.1), scoring margin (+14.4), field goal percentage (.457), assists (16.6), and turnover margin (+7.5) while also ranking in the top three in scoring defense (59.7), field goal defense (.383), 3FG defense (.283), steals per game (10.4) and free throw percentage (.773).
The Western Michigan Broncos are 12-16 overall, and 8-9 in league play, after defeating Ohio 75-56 on Saturday. WMU is 5-8 on the road this season, including 5-3 in league play. The Broncos are led offensively by Hannah Spitzley who is averaging 13.9 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and steals (2.3 spg). Marina Asensio is also averaging in double figures (13.5 ppg) while leading the team in assists (4.8 apg).
In MAC play, the Broncos lead the league in three-point field goal defense (.256), while ranking second in three-pointers made per game (7.6) and three-point field goals attempted per game (24.1), third in scoring defense (60.8) and fifth in steals per contest (8.4).
Up next, Buffalo will await their opponent for the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament which begins on Wednesday, March 12 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
