Bulls Travel to Ball State on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (23-5, 12-4 MAC) embarks on its final road trip of the regular season as they travel to Muncie for a rematch with the Ball State Cardinals.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Mick Tidrow (play-by-play) and Shelby Farwig (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 40th overall meeting between Buffalo and Ball State with the Cardinals owning a 23-16 series advantage. The Cardinals defeated the Bulls at Alumni Arena in January.
Buffalo dominated from start to finish in a 71-54 wire-to-wire win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Four Bulls scored in double figures led by Chellia Watson who had a game-high 21 points, on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting from the floor, to go with six rebounds. Sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams scored 13 points to go with five rebounds and four assists, Noelani Cornfield recorded 11 points and dished out seven dimes and Jordyn Beaty added 10 points.
The Bulls, one of two MAC teams ranked in the top 15 of the Mid-Major Top 25, are led offensively by Watson who is averaging 20.3 points per game. Lewis-Williams is averaging 13.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and Cornfield is also averaging in double figures at 10.6 ppg, while leading the team and ranking 20th nationally in assists per game (5.5).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (74.6), scoring margin (+15.3), field goal percentage (.460), assists (16.5), and turnover margin (+7.6) while also ranking in the top three in scoring defense (59.3), field goal defense (.378), steals per game (10.4) and free throw percentage (.771).
The Ball State Cardinals are 22-7 overall, and 14-2 in league play, after defeating Western Michigan 55-45 on Saturday. Ball State is balanced offensively as they have five players scoring in double figures, led by Alex Richard who is leading the team in scoring (15.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 apg). Ally Becki (14.6 ppg, 6.0 apg), Madelyn Bischoff (10.5 ppg), Elise Stuck (10.2) and Lachelle Austin (10.0 ppg) are also averaging in double figures. Becki, a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, ranks in the top 10 in the nation in assists per game (6.0), total assists (175), and triple doubles (1).
The Cardinals, currently ranked #71 in the NET rankings, lead the MAC in blocks per game (4.1) while ranking second in assist/turnover ratio (1.1), fouls per game (15.0), scoring margin (12.5) and turnovers per game (14.7) and third in field goal percentage (.443).
Up next, Buffalo will close out the regular season at home as they welcome Western Michigan to Alumni Arena for Senior Day on Saturday, March 8 at 2pm.
