BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team came out on top over the visiting Toledo Rockets on Saturday evening, 87-74. The Bulls snapped their 9-game losing streak to the Rockets as their last win came on Feb. 14, 2020. In the program's 2,500th game, the Bulls improved their all-time record to 1,290-1,210.
In the most complete game of the season by the Bulls, Tyson Dunn had a stellar performance as he scored a game and career-high 26 points. He tied his career-high in three-pointers as he went 6-for-9 from deep and was 10-for-14 from the floor. Bryson Wilson scored 20 points to give him back-to-back 20-point performances. Wilson was perfect on the night as he was 8-for-8 from the floor, 3-for-3 from deep and made his one free throw attempt. The last time a Bull did that was Armoni Foster at Ball State on Jan. 24, 2023. Ryan Sabol scored 13 points with 5 assists and 2 steals. Kavon Bradford came up huge on the defensive end as he recorded a career-high 3 blocks.
The Bulls were electric from the floor. They made a season-high 35 baskets on 56 attempts, good for a season-high 62.5% from the floor. Their shooting percentage is now eighth all-time in program history for a single game. As a team, the Bulls were 13-for-23 from deep on the night, good for a season-best 56.5% from three-point range. On the glass the Bulls outrebounded the Rockets, 29-22.
Buffalo got out to a 5-0 lead, but the Rockets got rolling and got an 8-7 lead before the first media timeout of the game. It was a back and forth affair as there were 8 lead changes and 4 ties in the opening half. Toledo maintained the lead at 17-14, but then the Bulls' offense started to click. The Bulls tied the game at 17 after a Dunn three and did not trail the rest of the half. Buffalo took the lead and held it until the Rockets tied the game at 32 prior to the halftime horn.
Toledo scored on their first two possessions in the second half to take a 36-35 lead, but that would be their final lead of the game. The Bulls' defense clamped down as the offense shot 69.7% in the second half. Buffalo led 50-47 before going on 11-0 run to go up 61-47. The Bulls and Rockets were even the rest of the night as they brought home the 87-74 win for the loud fans in Alumni Arena.
The Bulls are back in action at home on Tuesday against Miami (OH) in the Bulls' final home game of the season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
