Bulls Host Ball State for Native American Heritage Day on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (12-1, 1-1 MAC) returns to the friendly confines of Alumni Arena for a clash with the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday at 2pm. It is Native American Heritage Day, presented by Seneca Resort and Casino.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Howard Simon (play-by-play) and Jared Zeidman (color) announcing and can be heard on ESPN 1520 and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 39th overall meeting between Buffalo and Ball State with the Cardinals owning a 22-16 series advantage. The Cardinals defeated the Bulls in a pair of matches last season.
Buffalo outscored Bowling Green 25-10 in the fourth quarter to rally to a 70-60 win over the Falcons at the Stroh Center on Wednesday night. Chellia Watson led the Bulls offensively with a game-high 24 points and Noelani Cornfield also scored in double figures with 13 points while Kirsten Lewis-Williams stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Bulls, who are currently ranked ninth in the Mid-Major Top 25, have three players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.7 points per game. Lewis-Williams (13.1 ppg) and Terah Harness (10.6 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Alexis Davis is averaging just under a double-double at 9.5 ppg and 7.2 rpg. Cornfield is averaging 9.8 points per contest while leading the team and ranking 35th nationally in assists per game (5.2).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (78.9), scoring defense (57.4), scoring margin (+21.5), field goal percentage (.456), field goal defense (.352), 3FG defense (.259), assists (17.2) and turnover margin (+8.5) while also ranking in the top three in steals per game (10.6) and free throw percentage (.790).
The Ball State Cardinals are 11-4 overall, and 3-0 in league play, after defeating Eastern Michigan 101-69 on Wednesday. The Cardinals are balanced offensively as they have five players scoring in double figures, led by Ally Becki who is leading the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and assists (5.7 apg). Alex Richard (13.3 ppg), Lachelle Austin (10.6 ppg), Madelyn Bischoff (10.4 ppg) and Elise Stuck (10.4 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Richard and Marie Kiefer lead the team in rebounding (6.1 rpg). Becki ranks fifth in the nation in triple doubles, 15th in assists per game (5.7) and 18th in total assists (86).
The Cardinals rank in the top three in the MAC in scoring (74.8), scoring defense (60.9), scoring margin (+13.9), field goal percentage (.453), three-point attempts per game (24.1), turnover margin (+3.8), assists per game (16.3), steals per game (10.7) and blocks per game (3.6).
