Bulls Can’t Get by Undefeated UConn Huskies

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (3-4, 0-0 MAC) fell to the undefeated UConn Huskies (6-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon, 3-1.
Buffalo's offense struggled compared to the Huskies as they were outhit, .234 to .099. Another key difference was that UConn tallied 17.0 total blocks to Buffalo's 8.0.
Mandy Leigh had her second double-double of the season with 30 assists and a match-high 16 digs. Lauren Otten finished with a career-high 12 kills on the day.
The Bulls were having their way with the Huskies in the first set as they led 15-10 at the media timeout. A 6-2 UConn run forced the Bulls to call a timeout as they led 17-16. The Huskies offense wasn't done as they rattled off a 9-4 run to close the set.
Buffalo bounced back in the second set as they won the set, 25-23. In total there were 12 ties and three lead changes. Katrin Trebichavska had a set-high six kills.
It was all UConn the rest of the way. The Bulls had a combined attack percentage of just .017 in the third and fourth sets.
The Bulls are back in action on Friday as they face the Wright State Raiders at the Buckeye Invite in Columbus, Ohio.
