Bulls to Face Stony Brook, Colgate and UConn this Weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (3-1, 0-0 MAC) will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. this weekend for the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament hosted by Colgate. The Bulls will face the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-0, 0-0 CAA), Colgate Raiders (0-3, 0-0 Patriot) and the UConn Huskies (3-0, 0-0 BIG EAST).
The Bulls will battle the Seawolves on Friday at 4 p.m. Stony Brook leads the all-time series against the Bulls, 7-3. Buffalo's last win against the Seawolves came on Sept. 4, 2004. Stony Brook has opened the season with a 3-0 record with wins over Delaware State, Presbyterian and at James Madison. All three of their matches went the distance in 3-2 decisions.
Buffalo will take on host Colgate on Saturday at 5 p.m. on ESPN+. The Bulls lead the series, 7-6. The Raiders have won the last two meetings as the Bulls' last win came on Aug. 26, 2011. The last time the Raiders and Bulls faced each other was on Sept. 1, 2019, which was Head Coach Scott Smith's third match as Buffalo's head coach. The Raiders are 0-3 to start the season, but they have faced tough competition in Duke, South Carolina and No. 13 Kansas. The Raiders have won the Patriot League title the last three seasons and have made it to the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulls will wrap up their action in Hamilton, N.Y. on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. against the UConn Huskies. The Huskies are 3-0 on the season with victories over LIU, Youngstown State and Sacred Heart. The Bulls and Huskies are tied 1-1 in the all-time series. Buffalo took the last contest on Aug. 28, 2021, 3-2.
On Monday, Katrin Trebichavska earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in her career. She is just 30.0 points shy of reaching 1,000 career points at Buffalo.
The Bulls are coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 3 Pittsburgh on Tuesday evening.
In the national rankings, Abby Leigh is 13th in hitting percentage at .513. Trebichavska is in the top-35 in five categories. She ranks fifth in total aces (11) and total points (76.5). She's also top-10 in total kills at eighth with 64. At 0.79 aces per set, she's 29th and 33rd with 4.57 kills per set.
Following this weekend, the Bulls will participate in the Buckeye Invite at Ohio State where they'll face Wright State, Ohio State and Miami (FL) starting Friday, Sept. 13.
