
Bulls Open Season Strong at Harry Lang Invitational

HAMILTON, NY – The University at Buffalo Cross Country team began its season at Colgate's Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with the women placing second and the men placing fourth.
The Buffalo women cruised to second place in the 5k race with a score of 62 and seven finishers inside the top 30 runners. Lacey Danilovitz headlined the day for Buffalo, finishing ninth with a new personal record of 19:01.02. The Bulls' had newcomers make noise from there, with freshman Brynn Bernard placing 15th (19:26.1) and graduate transfer Eliza Medearis taking 19th (19:44.6). Returners Bronagh Cassidy (18th, 19:37.1) and Chloe Freeland (20th, 19:45.3) also finished inside Buffalo's top five.
"The team responded well to the weather delay and changes that it brought about," said Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "It was good to watch both newcomers and returners have strong performances in our season-opening meet."

The Buffalo men finished fourth of five teams in the 6k race. Ty Fluharty led the way for the Bulls, finishing ninth in a field of 50 runners with a time of 19:58.8. Sophomore Chris Turner was the next to place for the Bulls with a time of 20:35.4, taking 20th. Gabe Watson (24th, 20:39.0), Cory Demo (25th, 20:41.6), and Fernando Sanchez (46th, 22:33.1) closed out the Buffalo top five.

The Bulls will next compete at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday, September 13th.
